Extreme Fitness' newest group fitness craze Fit4Golf promises a season full of longer drives and lower scores.

Extreme Fitness has teamed up with professional long driver and sport conditioning coach Mike Wiebe to introduce Fit4Golf; a functional group fitness class designed to help golfers increase driving distance and improve overall fitness. Mike, who is a 7-time World Long Drive Championship Finalist designed the program to reflect the type of exercises that he uses to prepare for competition and has tailored them to suit everyday golfers.

“Golf specific training is essential for those who want to improve their game,” says Mike. “It is much different than your everyday workout and requires balance, flexibility and core training in order to perform proper golf swing mechanics.”

The exercises in the Fit4Golf program center mainly on calisthenics and functional strength training. Calisthenic exercises focus on using your own body weight to build muscular and core strength and are effective for golfers to help increase the strength and balance needed for an athletic golf swing. Functional strength training consists of exercises that work several parts of the body at once which will enable golfers to develop coordination and flexibility and help produce a fluid, efficient golf swing.

Golf fitness is a new concept to most people and widely overlooked. Every sport requires specific physical preparation and golf is no different. Those who don’t follow an off-season fitness routine spend half the season warming up those unused golf muscles. Fit4Golf is a great way to kick start a summer full of longer drives and lower scores,” says Mike.

Jacque Walters is the VP of Group Fitness and is responsible for the development of all new group fitness classes at all thirteen Extreme Fitness locations. “More and more our members are seeking functional training techniques that are specific to the sports that they participate in outside of the club,” says Jacque.

Fit4Golf classes are free for members of Extreme Fitness. For non-members who would like to sample the class, Extreme Fitness is offering a free trial class at no charge. Fit4Golf classes are exclusively at Extreme Fitness starting March 9th - April 29th.
