HOW TO SPEED UP YOUR METABOLISM: BY ABAZAR HABIBINIA, EXTREME FITNESS'S TOP NUTRITIONIST

Healthy Breakfast
The secret behind a successful weight loss program is to boost metabolism as much as possible. Here are a few simple yet effective ways to enhance metabolism:

1. Don't skip any meals and eat small frequent meals throughout the day: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it should also be the largest. In our busy working society too many people skip breakfast, have a light lunch and then when they get home at night they are absolutely starving and eat a massive dinner. The trick to keep your metabolism revved -up for ultimate fat-loss is to reverse the conventional way of eating. Eat your largest meal for breakfast, a mid morning snack, a medium sized lunch, a mid-afternoon snack and your smallest meal in the evening.

2. Try to eat every 2-3 hours even if you're not hungry: Lack of appetite should not be an indicator for you to skip a meal or snack. If you skip a meal, whatever you eat in your next meal, your body will intuitively store as fat to provide you energy during your starvation time.

3. Keep your body hydrated by drinking one glass of water every 2 hours: Our bodies are made up of 60 per cent water.  When we are hydrated, our bodies function the best.  Water facilitates weight loss and flushes out all toxins that slow down the fat-burning process.  For optimum hydration, drink 6-8 glasses of water per day. If you drink coffee, you should add to your daily intake two extra glasses of water for each cup of coffee you have. If you are physically active you should also replenish with additional water.

4. Eat adequate protein in smaller portions throughout the day: Protein is essential for the body to build healthy, strong muscles. The more lean muscle mass you build, the more fat you burn.

5. Foods that help to increase body metabolism include: grapefruit, cabbage, mushroom, radish, parsley, dill, black pepper, cinnamon, flaxseed, lime, lemon, vinegar, and green tea. Try to include them in your diet.

6. Check with your doctor to make sure that you are healthy: The most common medical issues that make body metabolism very slow are: low function thyroid, depression, diabetes, and medications such as anti-depressants and corticosteroids. They need medical attention first.
